Phil & Ella Wellman are the owners of this awesome 1956
Chevy Nomad. The Wellman's are both Daytona Beach Street Rod Members and
work at the Turkey Run shows. If you have a show car, I'm sure Ella has
helped you out. Phil has had the
automobile for 44 years. He purchased it in 1969 from a Chevy only lot
in Tampa, Fl. Phil fixed her up and drove her around for 20 years. The
car has been painted a few times by Phil and his friends. To date she is
a beautiful unknown shade of green (selected by his wife). Phil says"
If you want to know what color that is, go down to the paint store!" The
power plant is a 1970 425 HP 396 corvette engine, she will get up and
go. He found the carbs at a Marine shop that he had remembered seeing
when hanging around there at 15 years old. This beauty has a rare Jaguar
rear end. The interior is a buttery tan leather from a 2009 Cadillac.
The Nomad made its first appearance at the Turkey Run in 1974 and
returned in 2012 after a 5 year absence due to the work Phil had been
doing on her. Recently the Nomad placed in the top 40 out of 409 at
Waycross! Make sure to stop by admire this car at the 40th Turkey Run
this Nov.
